Set five shades

Rule 9

5 hours

Light and shadow create atmosphere.

Shades hold objects together and anchors them in space

A slight shade can make a huge difference, because it sets the object in relation to itself and its surrounding.  So never forget to lay a tone of grey or even color.

Hello, happy sketching

Tone values are important because they can create an atmosphere. The sketch itself tends to do without tonal values, but sometimes it is advisable to add some lightness or darkness. Because the grey tone or color tone can create a mood.

In addition, it is also good to give a shimmering tone value, as this can bring the form together a little. It is also good to integrate several brightnesses. Five tonal values are a good number so that you don’t get lost in the details and can still create some mood.

Colors and shadows are our friends here.

Give light and shadow and you will harvest atmosphere?

Light creates the mood of the picture. The white of the paper limits the maximum brightness. So you need to decide on the intensity of shades and areas of darkness. If you look through the eyes slightly closed and pinch the eyelashes, then the details disappear. This makes it easier for you to determine the five darkest places, and subsequently transfer them to the sketch..
